Bay Area Resource along with Homeownership SF and the San Francisco Police Credit Union to host a daylong education real estate panel yesterday at the SF POA headquarters. Although no donuts could be found, the police and other first responders benefited from the panel and the information provided by among other panelists.
The multi-shift style sessions included panelists that included real estate attorney Barrett Schaffer (Martini & Walker), Jeff Johnston (Johnston Tax Advisors), Selwyn Whitehead, Sheila Gropper Nelson, Yvonne Meyer (Wells Fargo) as well as several non-profits including MEDA, CCCSSF, and Asian inc.
Various police officers, sheriffs and other staff asked questions about the state of loan modifications and the best way to obtain one, bankruptcy options, first time home buying programs and investing in this unstable real estate market. Panelists even asked questions to other panelists about certain real estate related questions (such as about deficiency judgments, 1099s tax repercussions and other real estate questions) so the event had a completely interactive element. Although the event could have used a few less empty seats, the attendees who attended gave rousing thumbs up. Two deputies even asked, “When are you going to do your next panel, I’ll bring the other officers from my station.”
